The COBRA cable project consist of the power link between Denmark and The Netherlands and it has been delevoped by Energinet.dk and TenneT TSO B.V. The purpose of COBRA Cable is to allow for the integration of more renewable energy into the Dutch and Danish power systems and to increase security of supply. The power link will also help to intensify competition on the north-west European power markets. Strong power links between the European countries make it possible to integrate markedly more wind energy into the European power systems.

The cables system that was installed is composed by:

  • 2 High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC)
  • 1 Fiber Optic (FO) cable

Prysmian Group has awarded Assodivers Group the cable installation and protection operations of the Danish nearshore section. More specifically, Assodivers Group performed initial landing at Fanø West site, simultaneous laying and burial and wet storage of the cable ends.  ASDG scope of work also included the installation of mattresses at crossing locations as well as at route sections with hard seabed conditions.
