The DBU project concerns the HVAC submarine link between the AC/DC offshore converter station BorWin beta platform and the Deutsche Bucht offshore wind park, located in the South-West German Bight region of the South North Sea. The system is composed by two power cables with an interstitial optical unit that are installed independently from each other on two parallel routes about 28km long, and 40m water depth. South cable route has already been connected at BorWin Beta, laid and wet stored at DBU platform area, as part of 2018 activities.

Prysmian has awarded ASSO a contract for the execution of the submarine cables installation work, 2 initial pull-in on BorWin Beta platform and 2 final pull-ins, both on Deutsche Bucht OSS platform. The entire length of both DBU South and North cables was simultaneously laid and buried at the envisaged depth of burial.

ASSO’s scope of work included:

  • Preparation activities // Mobilization activities
  • Cable transpooling
  • Platform pull-in
  • Simultaneous lay & Burial

Vessel/Equipment used:

  • Atalanti
  • Artemis
  • HydroPlow
