Asso.subsea is delighted to announce the successful completion of a significant project in Croatia, marking a milestone collaboration with our esteemed contractor Končar, on behalf of HOPS. The project encompassed the meticulous transportation and installation of cables, spanning a length of approximately 30 kilometers and reaching depths of 70 meters underwater.
Four distinct 110 kV cable systems were installed, with the northern part connecting the following landing sites: Mali Bok – Merag and Osor bay on the islands of Krk, Cres, and Losinj, and the southern part linking Prapatna – Medvidbad and Travna – Slatina between the islands of Brač, Hvar, and Korcula. Replacement of the old cables along these routes with 3x 630 mm2 submarine cables was executed, totaling approximately 30,500 meters. Notably, onshore pull-in activities needed preparation works prior to pull in activities to all sites, which together with pull-in operation posed significant challenges, with two operations necessitating HDD pipes measuring around 120 m and 60 m in length, respectively. Additionally, the presence of steep slopes with turns at various sites required innovative solutions, prompting Asso.subsea to design and manufacture specific rollers. Gradients of up to 40% were encountered at locations such as Prapatna and Slatina. Remarkably, our CLV Atalanti and pull-in teams onshore, successfully executed three consecutive landing activities.
