The Gruissan Floating Offshore Windfarm Connection Project (EolMed)

The Gruissan Floating Offshore Windfarm Connection, also known as the EolMed, is a 30MW floating wind project developed by the Eolmed consortium, led by the French renewable energy company Qair, alongside Total, BW Ideol, and turbine manufacturer MHI Vestas.  

RTE, France’s transmission system operator, has awarded the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) contract for the submarine and underground cable works to a consortium led by Prysmian Powerlink S.r.l., with Asso.subsea Single Member S.A. as a key installation partner. 

The project’s onshore components, including the landfall, underground export cable, and substation, are located within the Port-La-Nouvelle municipality, about 16 kilometers off the coast of Gruissan Port-La-Nouvelle in the southern French region of Occitanie. The submarine cable segment is roughly 24 kilometers long, while the underground section is about 2.7 kilometers long.
